American Red Cross Scholarship Program

The Red Cross Scholarship program is extremely beneficial to au pairs wishing to expand child safety skills or develop a better understanding of child development. Approved courses include:

  • American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED
  • Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED (group class only)

Classes in First Aid and CPR are available all over the country in local hospitals and adult education centers through the Red Cross. Au pair in America will pay for the cost of a class providing you have at least three months left on your visa and you are taking one of several approved child care/child safety related classes, such as Infant/Child CPR or Community First Aid and Safety.

Explore the classes in your area and check with your counselor and your host family before signing up. You must complete a Red Cross Scholarship form and send it to the Connecticut office of Au Pair in America along with an original receipt showing payment for the class. Au Pair in America will reimburse the cost of the class.

Your community counselor may also organize a group class for au pairs in the cluster. Check with her first before making plans.
